What Our Customers Are Saying

We’ve been to The Old Crown several times since it changed hands. We’ve had dinner and cocktails there, as well as their special menus like their fantastic Afternoon Tea and Lobster Weekend. We have just returned from a wonderful lobster lunch where all of the food was delicious. We didn’t have to choose from the lobster menu but the starters and mains all sounded so good. We had the lobster & crayfish cocktail and squid ink tagliatelle with poached lobster for our starters. Mains were lobster thermidor and chargrilled lobster with bavette steak. We were pleased with the creativity, presentation and flavours of the dishes. The desserts were good too - lemon meringue tart and carrot cake. Service was excellent throughout - friendly, welcoming and attentive. We never had a reason to go to this pub in the past but now the gorgeous refurbishment, upgraded menu and great drinks list tick all of the boxes.

Went with my wife for Sunday Lunch. We ordered chicken breast and a pork loin. Both meals were superb including the vegetables. Probably the best Sunday roast I have had in a restaurant. Good presentation of food and friendly staff.

The new old crown has style, amazing decor and food and service to match. What more to ask of a village pub? This will soon be a destination pub and I can’t wait to see it flourish and be one of the most talked about places to eat in Cambridge. Will definitely be returning soon

I visited this restaurant along with some friends last night. It was a particularly bad night weather wise but there were quite a few diners. The restaurant has been refurbished exceptionally well and there was an area where you can have a drink on arrival which in some restaurant this is not available. We were able to sit on comfortable sofas whilst waiting for the food. The food was excellent. It was piping hot and very tasty. I had the brawn fritters which were very good followed by crispy lamb and shoulder lamb with a very interesting salad. The desserts were very good also. The restaurant staff were very informative and pleasant. The bar staff were efficient and also very friendly. We used this place a lot in the past but the food was good but not special. They have certainly brought a good standard of food to this restaurant and we will definitely return again. The decor is much better and it felt more spacious than it was before. Well done to the new owners.

This place is to die for, everything from the decor to the cocktails to the food was just spot on. Thank you for an amazing evening, a special place to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary. The complimentary glasses of bubbly was a thoughtful touch & we were so looked after which made us feel very special. We will definately be returning- next time after a long days shopping!
I shall be recommending to all my friends & family

The Old Crown as I knew it was friendly, quaint but very tired. The food was not great at all but for some reason very busy at weekends much owing to its pricing. We now have the newly refurbished Old Crown by Stuart Inns. The decor is much improved

We have been several times and have found the food really good quality. The vegetarian options are lovely and inventive. The quality of the meats and fresh ingredients are great. Overall I really like The Old Crown and would say to give it a chance to evolve into somewhere that could be a hub in the village for friends, families, works drinks. Cocktail menu looks good!

The service was excellent, good mix of informative, attentive and friendly. We had the tapas which was very good and desserts yummy. I love love love the decor of this place and it feels such a treat without having to go in to the centre of Cambridge.

We recently celebrated our sons christening and went to the Old Crown afterwards for a light buffet and drinks with family and friends. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere just right. The food was delicious and catered for all ages including the children in the party. Our guests all commented how lovely it was and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you.

We have never been here before and after one visit have established you as one of our go-to places. Absolutely flawless service, not because we were waited on hand and foot but because the style, knowledge, level of contact and conversation was spot on. Food fabulous too.

Had a superb evening meal - food was excellent from the bread and olives through to the tasty sea trout and finished with a beautiful Mille-feuille desert - every attention to detail and accompanied by attentive service - top class !

Easily accessible with ample parking. We were a party of 7 on a Saturday evening. The service was prompt, informative and cordial; the food was first class and the meal reasonably priced. Inside you don't feel crowded or overheated and it's nice and quiet for normal conversation. They cater for gluten-free and even made a special mini-loaf which my wife declared the best gluten-free bread ever!

The newly completed décor gives a feeling of space and refinement. The eclectic décor is modern and refined. Dining experience was of a very high standard accompanied with crisp white tablecloth and serviettes. The copper sweeping bar added to a modern feel. Worthwhile a visit..

A warm welcome to a beautifully refurbished restaurant. Really good choice of menus and a good Kids' menu with activities and colouring pencils provided. Staff all very friendly and attentive. The fish stew was really tasty and well presented and desserts much enjoyed by all. Our young diner really loved the orange polenta cake and tastes of our crème brulée! Will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommend it.

I couldn’t have had a more enjoyable lunch. Having visited for a delicious Christmas dinner I went back for a birthday treat with my family. I was surprised at the beautiful refurbishment which has enhanced the whole experience with its rich and warm environment. Again, the warm friendly staff who remembered me from my first visit, greeted me with a celebratory Buck’s Fizz. The food is worth every penny and invites a real class to the pub eating experience. I would suggest the venison and the plaice, cooked to perfection. Thank you to all of the staff for making us so welcome and to the chefs for their great food.
